Software update – Oyster Digital:
 
These instructions describe the installation of a software update or a transmitter list update into the Oyster Digital. Here, we specifically refer to the use of the support programme tvboxEdit under Windows. If you use a DOS or a UNIX computer, the procedure is similar. Please refer to the appropriate instructions in the respective links for the DOS or UNIX updates. After downloading the file TvBoxEdit.zip, you must unpack this archive. For doing this, you can use any one of the common 'zip' tools available under Windows. Save the unpacked file tvBoxEdit.exe in any folder of your choice. An 'installation' is not required. Simply double-click 'tvBoxEdit' to start the programme.
 
Preparations:
 
In order to perform an update, the Oyster Digital must be attached to the power supply. In addition, the external display ("Sat mouse") must be attached. However, a connection of the external unit is not required. The receiver must be switched on during the update procedure. If an external unit is attached, this must not move while the update is performed.  

The connection between PC and Oyster Digital takes place via a serial cable that is directly through-wired (e.g., so-called mouse extension, not a null modem cable).  

On the PC side, this cable must have a 9 or 25 pin socket (depending on the serial connector on your PC). At the side of the Oyster digital receiver, the cable must have a 9 pin plug. Plug this cable into a serial interface of your PC and enter the number of the interface selected by you under "connection" --> "COM port" into tvBoxEdit.
 
Software update:
 
Download the desired update file (firmware.app) from our homepage. Save the file for the sake of simplicity in the same folder in which you have also saved the programmetvBoxEdit.  

In tvBoxEdit, select the item "Connection" --> "Box software update". Now you can open the file that you would like to use for the update (normally, "firmware.app") as usual in Windows.  

After the selection you are requested to click on "Start". Please do this. Now wait some seconds. The progress of the update is indicated on the screen. Please have patience until the line "998 Expecting command." appears on the screen. Now click on "Close". 

NOTE absolutely that during the update in progress the voltage supply of the receiver must not be interrupted!!
 
Transmitter list update: 

Download the desired update file (transmitter list) from our homepage. Save the file for the sake of simplicity in the same folder in which you have also saved the programme tvBoxEdit. In tvBoxEdit, select the item "File" --> "Open". Now you can open the file that you would like to use for the update (normally, "th_senderl.cxf") as usual in Windows.  

After the selection, the loaded transmitter list is displayed on the screen.  

Now select "Connection" --> "Upload transmitter list to the box". The progress is indicated as blue bars at the lower edge of the screen. Please have some patience until this procedure is finished.  

NOTE absolutely that during the update in progress the voltage supply of the receiver must not be interrupted!!
 
Editing the transmitter list: 

You can edit or print a transmitter list that is opened (i.e., displayed on the screen), and after editing you can save it again or transfer it to the Oyster Digital. In addition, you can retrieve and edit the transmitter list of the Oyster Digital at any time in order to save it afterwards or upload it again to the unit.
